Upcoming Birthday
It's my birthday next week - I get so excited over birthdays, I'm like a little kid! I'm almost counting down the number of sleeps before the big day! My head is full of birthday cakes to make and decorate, dresses to wear, parties, friends to invite, invitations, party themes and colours, flowers and food. My husband is taking me to Sydney for a few days but I would still like to have a bit of party with my friends so it's time to start planning!

Shabby Chic Style
Here's a little 'Shabby Chic' inspiration to start off the week. I love the all white freshness of the painted floorboards, the white timber lining boards and the chic vintage style furniture. Each of these room settings are full of personality. A combination of found objects, vintage finds, antique pieces and Scandinavian chic. This mix and match approach to decorating creates a beautiful, bohemian country feel! Have a great week!

Weekend Pastimes
With all of this stunning weather we have been having lately,
it's the perfect opportunity to make the most of summer.
The possibilities are endless :-
pack a picnic and go for a drive in the countryside
grab you bike and go for a ride
take your favourite book and find a shady spot under a tree
take the tent or the caravan and go exploring for the weekend
Whatever you do this weekend I hope it's a happy one!

Vintage Finds
These kids spaces all exude charm and character. They each have something unique to offer. Sometimes one needs to think outside the square to create something extra special. Hunting around second hand shops, antique stores and flea markets can present you with some quirky interesting ideas - think wooden blackboards, vintage toys and old school furniture. Remember those fantastic wooden desks with the lift up lifts we used when we were kids. Things might need a lick of paint and some new life breathed back into them but they'll add personality and fun into your children's rooms.

Chelsea Flower Show
I lived in London for five years, most of it was spent working at Harrods and living in Knightsbridge, just a hop, skip and a jump from Chelsea so I am kicking myself that I never made more of an effort to get to the Chelsea Flower Show. I missed a huge opportunity here as nothing would delight me more than being surrounded by flowers, plants and all that creativity. So one day I will have to go back and take my landscape architect husband with me as I am sure we would both love it!

Country Details
I love all the attention to detail associated with country living ... in my opinion it's often the little things that count. Details like vintage chandeliers, old fashioned tapware, treasured pieces like this old fashioned cake tin, enamelled jugs filled with fresh flowers, dainty china teacups, wooden dresses filled with country style crockery and scatter cushions piled high on sofas.

Country style in the city
Even if you live in the city there's nothing to stop you from creating a bit of country style chic. Think big, comfy slip-covered sofas and armchairs piled with scatter cushions. Fill your home with white rustic painted furniture, vintage treasures, antique pieces and a claw foot bath. Use recycled floorboards and shaker doors on your kitchen cupboards. Cosy up the space with rugs and add some country charm with old fashioned flowers.
