Apple Season
As the days grown shorter and a chill sets in the air my thoughts wander to 'old school' classic recipes like the ones my grandma used to make. I start thumbing through my old cookbooks looking for family favourites such as chocolate pudding, lemon delicious and apple crumble. In fact I love any dessert with apples in it and nothing tastes better than when it's made with apples picked straight from the tree! Serve them all up with homemade custard and lashings of cream and you'll be sure to have a winner!
Fall Romance
Pull on your warmest coat, grab your scarf and head to the country for a romantic weekend escape, Bridget Jones style. Find a cosy little Bed and Breakfast and a quaint country pub for a hearty feed. Relax and unwind over a pint of apple cider, good conversation, crisp Autumn weather, holding hands as you wander down the country lanes. Take time out to explore a country village, chatting with the locals as you go. Perhaps even go for a bike ride or row on the lake to fill your lungs with fresh country air!
The first fall of leaves crunch underfoot as the sunlight filters through the tress. The air is fresh and crisp - it's the perfect time of year to pack some homemade goodies into a basket, throw a rug in the car and head off on a picnic. Work up an appetite with a brisk walk through the woods or kicking your way through the autumn leaves. Find a sheltered spot to spread out the rug and settle in for some tasty treats and a thermos of hot coffee!
Country Style
Autumn is the season for layering up and keeping warm as cooler, crisper days set in. Think chunky knits, cashmere jackets, English tweeds, tartan and plaids, ribbed tights and knitted scarves. The palette is more subdued in earthy tones like chocolate, mushroom, grey, and indigo and colours like mulberry, plum, pumpkin and burnt red add a splash of colour and make perfect accents The 'must-have' accessory for the season is the hat. Berets and beanies, cloches and caps, trilbies and dedoras - hats in every size, shape and style are the ultimate topper this season.

Autumn Gold
With the change of each season brings a whole new lifestyle. In Autumn I look forward to the first of the log fires to warm the chilly Autumn evenings and cosy nights in! I look forward to spending time in the kitchen baking with the fire roaring away in the background. After a summer of living on salad, seafood, barbeques and fresh fruit I'm ready for a change and it's hot soups, freshly baked bread and hearty stews that I crave the most!
