Sweet Endings

 

I love flicking though 'foodie magazines' and cookbooks and I couldn't be happier than spending an afternoon in the kitchen cooking up a storm for family and friends. My family loves their food and they have a great appreciation for a home cooked meal, especially if it's something new and different. I love entertaining and enjoy everything from the planning to the table settings, to the music and flowers. I'm just as happy with an intimate dinner for six as I am with casual buffet for friends or a barbeque for the entire street! I am a great believer that good food brings people together!

A Cosy Afternoon

Outside is wet, cold and uninviting so I am looking forward to staying indoors, lounging on the sofa having a lazy afternoon, keeping warm by the fire. I love cosy weekends with nothing much planned except a pile of books, cups of coffee and a home baked cake for afternoon tea. The sofa is piled high with cushions and blanket and I am looking forward to settling in for the afternoon.

Winter Magic

Having just returned from three days of glorious skiing I am feeling very inspired by all things cold and wintery. One of the things I love about skiing is the beauty and the silence that surrounds you. Snow laden trees and snow covered mountains are a breathtaking sight to behold. Living in a country where it only snows on the highest peaks I find it especially magical and romantic at night walking around the ski village with the fairy lights twinkling and snow crunching underfoot... especially after a glass or two of gluhwein!

Handwritten Words

 

Writing is such a feminine notion :-

I love the idea of sitting down and putting pen to paper - 

either by writing a letter or making an entry in a journal.

I always have a notebook on the go for jotting down ideas and things I see 

but don't want to forget.

Handwritten notes have so much personality
 - something that is void in emails and typewritten words.

A personality appears in every curve and loop

There is nothing more pleasing and well mannered than receiving a hand written

thank-you note, especially in today's fast paced world.

Scandinavian Chic

I love the old word charm and romantic vintage style of these Scandinavian rooms. They are full of gorgeous flights of whimsy like the fairy wings, the hat boxes, vintage mannequin and the old suitcases. These heavenly spaces all appeal to my girly, romantic imagination of the grace and elegance of a by-gone era.

A Study in Simplicity

Working as a designer - I have a love and appreciation of many different styles but time and time again I am drawn to a simple, natural style. Styles that embrace restraint rather than eccentricity, calm rather than clutter and plain, neutral colours rather than lots of strong colours. A simply styled room will often include white furniture alongside natural wood and soft neutrals. Layering different textures and combining a number of different materials, such as wood, metal, and linen also brings life to a neutral palette. Clever displays in earth-toned, natural colours adds the perfect finishing touches.
