The Patchwork of Life

I love unexpected mixes of colours and patterns. As a designer, I like mixing old with new - modern sofas with antiques and vintage pieces. I also like to throw eclectic and exotic pieces into the mix to give things an unexpected twist ... perhaps a Moroccan lantern, a Chinese wedding chest or an African footstool. I am smitten with the image of the rustic table with the ultra modern Phillipe Starck Louis ghost chairs. A room always looks more interesting when it's little out of the ordinary!

Heavenly Pink

I love these flourishes of pink to brighten up these spaces. A bunch of flowers here, a bright pink scatter cushion there and suddenly these rooms have come alive with this pop of colour. It's amazing how just a splash of colour can totally transform a room!

There's nothing like a good night's sleep and all of these
heavenly beds look like they promise exactly that!
Soft feather pillows,
 luxury Egyptian cotton sheets
goose down doonas
 and my electric blanket!
Just perfect!

A Country Kitchen

I am in the process of designing a Hamptons style house with a country kitchen - this is very exciting because most of my interior design work is ultra modern so it is refreshing to do something a little different. My perfect country kitchen has to be white with shaker style painted doors. I can't decide between white carrara marble benchtops or timber - there's great examples of both above. I love classic white subway tiles for the splashback and a big island bench is a must. The first image has to be my favourite with that pop of colour to lift all that white...simply perfect!

Purple Hues

One of my favourite things about summer is entertaining in the garden. I love getting creative and going overboard, usually to the delight of my guests. I pull out all the stops with the white linen tablecloth, Harrods silver cutlery, mix and match china, silver candelabras, champagne buckets and big floral arrangements. They are a grand affair and look stunning - and make for a fabulous party if the sun stays shinning and a disaster of a day if it starts to rain! I love this beautiful outdoor setting in shades of purple and blue!

Simply Green

In a decorating scheme green is one of my favourite accent colours - always fresh and uplifting. Here it takes centre stage as the key colour for these statement pieces. I'm in love with that mint retro Smeg fridge and matching oven. The botanical wallpapers and the soft patina of the french washed paint would add character and interest to any country house as would the painted shutters, the vintage chest and the wooden ladder. Without this magical touch of green paint they wouldn't command nearly as much attention!
