Country Details

I love all the attention to detail associated with country living ... in my opinion it's often the little things that count. Details like vintage chandeliers, old fashioned tapware, treasured pieces like this old fashioned cake tin, enamelled jugs filled with fresh flowers, dainty china teacups, wooden dresses filled with country style crockery and scatter cushions piled high on sofas.

Country style in the city

Even if you live in the city there's nothing to stop you from creating a bit of country style chic. Think big, comfy slip-covered sofas and armchairs piled with scatter cushions. Fill your home with white rustic painted furniture, vintage treasures, antique pieces and a claw foot bath. Use recycled floorboards and shaker doors on your  kitchen cupboards. Cosy up the space with rugs and add some country charm with old fashioned flowers.

Rustic Charm

Things to love about country living:-
country kitchens filled with cooking smells
rustic farmhouse tables
big old fashioned stoves that can feed an army
hearty, wholesome country food
vegies picked fresh from the vegie garden
comfy chairs by the fireside
cosy beds laden with handmade quilts.

An Old Fashioned Quilt

Mondays is washing day for me so I felt inspired by these gorgeous images of cane washing baskets and old fashioned, handmade quilts. When I was a little girl I used to love staying over at my grandma's house and crawling into bed at night. I remember being weighed down by lots of  heavy eiderdowns and comforters and feeling so warm and cosy.

Vintage Collectables

One of my favouriye pastimes is scouring garage sales, antique markets and second hand shops for vintage treasures. I love finding old neglected pieces and breathing new life into them with a coat of paint and some new fabric. I love collecting vintage bottles and jars, old fashioned hat boxes, antique jewellery and quirky furniture pieces. What do you love collecting?

Let's Go Glamping!

Forget the camping of your childhood and go 'Glamping' which lets you enjoy luxuries far exceeding anything most campers have ever experienced, while allowing you the same exposure to the great outdoors like traditional camping.

Typical glamping tents are solid canvas constructs, often designed with bright designer colours and materials. They are furnished with hotel-style beds, carpets, chairs, desks and other furniture. They are often fitted out with stylish, private bathrooms and have power and running water. The level of luxury you will experience in such a glamping tent is very similar to a hotel room or a high-end bungalow. Imagine smelling pine-scented air while lying in your comfortable bed, listening to the sounds of birds and crickets.
