Wintery Moments

Having just spend a fabulous few days in the skiing in powdery snow
it reminds me of how magical a snow covered landscape is.
Quite, peaceful and beautiful are all words that spring to mind.

I am loving this pretty pink and grey inspiration.

Rug Up for Winter

I love being warm ~

so for me the best things about Winter are
lazy afternoons in front of the fire
Sunday breakfasts in bed
hand knitted scarves and beanies
curling up with a good book on a comfy sofa!

Winter Fun

From the moment winter hits
I start counting down the days until Spring
Having said that, one of the things I love about Winter
is rugging up in Winter woollies and cosy knits!

Winter Blues

Here on the opposite side of the globe ~ it's Winter
so I can't help posting the occasional wintery story.
Just having booked a ski trip
I'm feeling inspired by images of falling snow,
cosy knits, snowflakes and winter romance!

The Big Chill

One is tempted to hide indoors during the winter months but it's a great opportunity to get out and about on those sunny days and embrace the clean, crisp air. Blow away the cobwebs with a stroll through the park or a brisk walk along the beach. Pack a picnic rug, a thermos of coffee and some homemade sandwiches for a bite to eat along the way. Stop off on your way home at a cosy Devonshire Tea house and warm yourself  by the fire with a pot of hot tea and some oven fresh scones with strawberry jam and cream. Don't forget to take your gumboots and brollie just in case you get caught in the rain!

The Joys Of Winter

I am a real summer girl. I love hot weather, the beach and getting outdoors but there's a few things about winter that make it a special time of the year. For a start, fires are so romantic and many a good time has been had sitting around an open fire with a glass of red talking into the wee hours of the morning. In fact, that's how my husband proposed to me - except it was French champagne instead of red wine! I love skiing and staying up on the mountain walking around in the snow at night under all the fairy lights. I really look forward  to the comfort food that winter brings like slow cooked lamb shanks, roast dinners, chunky soups and chocolate pudding. I love the change of seasons and an excuse to go out shopping and buy some new clothes!

Cold Comfort

The beauty about winter is lazing around the house in warm pyjamas, comfy tracksuit pants, cosy knits and woolly socks. I love sleeping in the mornings when it's blowing a gale outside and the rain is pelting on the window. It's the time of the year to crank up the heater and stay in bed with a cup of tea and some thick buttered toast dripping in honey. There's no reason to race out of bed so sit back and relax with your favourite mag or the daily paper.

Winter Magic

Having just returned from three days of glorious skiing I am feeling very inspired by all things cold and wintery. One of the things I love about skiing is the beauty and the silence that surrounds you. Snow laden trees and snow covered mountains are a breathtaking sight to behold. Living in a country where it only snows on the highest peaks I find it especially magical and romantic at night walking around the ski village with the fairy lights twinkling and snow crunching underfoot... especially after a glass or two of gluhwein!

Get Cosy For Winter

Winter brings with it lots of heart warming moments - like watching snow falling for the first time in the season. There's a lots of things I love about winter like skiing, ice-skating, watching DVD's in bed and relaxing by a wood fire immersed in a good book. When it's too bleak and wet to venture outdoors I head for the kitchen to try out a new winter dish. I love the thought of velvety chocolate puddings with caramel sauce, rustic pasta dishes like macaroni cheese and homemade pies with buttery pastry. When there's a break in the weather we layer up in warm coats and cosy knits and go for a stroll along the river before heading back to the comfort of the fire.
