An Old Fashioned Quilt

Mondays is washing day for me so I felt inspired by these gorgeous images of cane washing baskets and old fashioned, handmade quilts. When I was a little girl I used to love staying over at my grandma's house and crawling into bed at night. I remember being weighed down by lots of  heavy eiderdowns and comforters and feeling so warm and cosy.

Pretty in Pink & Green

One of my favourite colour combinations is pink and green - it's so fresh and pretty that I never tire of it. My love for this colour palette probably stems from my passion for pink flowers set off with deep green foliage. It's a combination that works just as beautifully in the home as it does in nature!

Pretty Garden Florals

Being married to a landscape architect I have a great appreciation of gardens and outdoor spaces. One thing I have learnt along the way - is that no matter how small your space is - there is always potential to create something beautiful. I have seen tiny courtyards and barren backyards transformed into a lush oasis of calm and tranquility. I have watched neglected decks turn into inviting places to while away a sunny afternoon. All it takes is a little bit of imagination, some hard work and a wheelbarrow full of plants!

Vintage Chic in Lilac & Pistachio

Here's a little midweek prettiness with mauve and pistachio I'm loving the floral green quilt cover - it looks so cosy and inviting and that afternoon tea setting looks like the perfect place to while away the afternoon with a friend over a cuppa and a freshly baked friand!

Romantic Pastimes

I am still one for writing thank-you notes and sending out hand written invitations. I can sew, cook and knit, although my knitting is not something I would ever boost about! I have tried to teach my kids the value of good old fashioned manners and a few of the crafts that have been passed onto me from my mother and grandmother. In a fast paced computer-dominated world I think it's important to hold onto a few of these 'old fashioned' traditions. Enjoy your Sunday!

Cottage Romance

These rooms look so inviting - the beds look so comfy and the dining tables look welcoming. I can see myself at that family table with the red tablecloth set for lunch. You can almost smell the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen! It looks like there's been plenty of laughter and good times had around that kitchen table!

Love all of this summery romantic prettiness :-
bedlinen blooming with flowers, white wicker, silk cushions,
iced tea, dainty wallpaper, ruffled dresses and fresh flowers.
What's there not to love?
